[/ QUOTE ] I like TR for his leadership qualities, but would not vote for his presidency based on the same reason you gave above -- doing a lot of [censored] is exactly what I don't want a president to do, unless what they are doing is dismantling most of the federal government. |

Of modern times? Reagan or maybe Truman. |

I will add my vote to the OP for Jefferson. Yes, he was a hypocrite for owning slaves while proclaiming "all men are created equal", but his ideas were vital to the founding of our country, and I give him many points for siezing th opportunity and making the Loisiana Purchase. Also points for sending Lewis and Clark to explore the Louisiana Purchase. It is difficult to imagine what the USA would be like (or if it would even exist) without Thomas Jefferson.
