"Ed "The Cajun Squeeze" Pellegrini lays down pocket aces 3 times while on the bubble." Is this a joke? Who does this? [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [/ QUOTE ] i'm not sure why anyone would want to discourage this type of behavior |

Re: Saw this headline at cardplayer...Pellegrini lays down pocket aces
It was a good play. Aces aren't even that good of a hand anyway, aces get beat like all the time. Besides, like the experts say, never go broke with one pair.

the third time, he open raised. because he just couldn't fold them 3 times, even if it was the right play.

[/ QUOTE ] This must be edited commentary of the Wasicka laydown... "I'd do it for $2 million, etc." Remember, people play aces in those spots not because they value some standard of playing them more than large sums of money...they do it because it increases expected utility in the tournament. Show any evidence that folding aces makes him $70K richer on average and you have a point. If that's hard, try $15K richer. You'd be hard pressed to convince me he doesn't take a loss from folding aces. |

All of his reasoning for folding aces applied again, and yet he seemed to have no problem straying from "what he's supposed to do...really." |

[ QUOTE ]
http://www.cardplayer.com/tv/23480 2nd vid down on the right listen to him, it's unreal [/ QUOTE ] I think he was fortunate to win as much as he did and that shouldn't be the determinination of whether he made the right play or not. Who's to say he wouldn't have placed higher had he doubled up the first time he caught AA. He might as well have walked away and come back when someone was eliminated. |
