Why? Don't you think if villain were to call a t800 bet he'd be just as likely to call an all in. So pushing preflop would actually be the best play here. On the other hand, making a standard raise induces a call and gets more tchips out of villain if you think he'll fold to the all in.

We don't really want a call on the flop as it gives an A two more chances to catch. We want to win a bigger pot by getting villain to call a bigger bet preflop, then folding.

Again, it's the bubble don't get cute, just take it down.

Then pushing preflop is the best play. A preflop raise of t800 gives us fewer chips, especially relative to the larger pot, to c-bet on the flop. Thus giving villain more reasons to call on the flop.

It's a pot size bet, which gives him close to the right odds to call with a flush draw and open ended straight draw. Also, you are so afraid of him holding an Ace. If he holds that Ace then he has even better odds on that draw. Again, what range are you putting villain on?

tsearcher, I think you just aren't using the words for raising properly. We don't say how much we are going to raise on top of any previous bet or BB or call, we only ever say TO what we raise. So what you meant when you said "I raise 500" or whatever it was, was actually "I raise TO 700". Now everyone can be happy again...
