I'd like to point out that I'm playing NL100 and I don't know effective this is at NL200 and higher as I've only played a bit of NL200.
Anyway I see no harm in this. Another upside is that you will have a lot easier to get action with your monsters if you do 'get caught' raising small pp's like this. And the weak players will be afraid of and avoid you in the future since they can't put you on AK anymore. Mixing it up with calls/raises from the SB is fine, i dont like playing OOP often with small PP because when we raise, most of the time we are missing the flop, and there is that niggling desire to Cbet the flop.
From the sb we will often CF flop so we can keep it small at the minute. Often at 100nl, there is a good chance that flopping sets vs top pair/two pair will get a whole stack in anyway. |

"Mixing it up" is NOT fine against ppl who have no clue anyway.
Mixed strategies are never maximally exploitive against pure strategies. |

eh, I wouldnt raise PF, but I'm a nit. I don't think it matters much either way.
However, my reasons for not raising are: I think a lot of the value in raising smaller PPs is the FE, getting heads up, and taking the pot down when you don't flop your set. I think we almost always get 2 callers here. UTG isn't limping to fold to a raise, and BTN likes his position and his hand enough to play a multiway pot with it. |
