I like it...although package tours with others can be a bit cheesy...if you can do the private wine tasting I'd do that...

Re: Wife turning 30... is this a good gift?
I definitely thought SC was my age or so.
Anyway, this package sounds pretty cool if you can make it a bit more private. |

Re: Wife turning 30... is this a good gift?
i think the package is a great compromise given your situation. i say full steam ahead or a variation of it as others have suggested.
If for some reason it falls through, all women love spa's. remember that. |

I definitely thought SC was my age or so. [/ QUOTE ] How old are you? I would have guessed 27-30, but I guess I'm wrong based on that statement. Also, I booked the hotel room by itself and am going forward with the "improvised package" plan, where we'll hang out at the hotel and maybe disc golf, go swimming, etc, and have a nice dinner. I'm going to ask her sister if she thinks this is a good idea (still have time to cancel) and will report back. |

I obviously don't know your wife, but disc golf doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

It's a night at a nice hotel where they have a disc golf course, a pool, live music, several restaurants and bars and a movie theater. I figure we'll hit up the disc golf, drink too much wine, have a lavish dinner and then retire for the evening. |

SC,
The fact that you are spending this much time thinking about this makes me pretty confident you'll come up with the right set of things and she'll have an awesome time. |

I'm going to ask her sister if she thinks this is a good idea (still have time to cancel) and will report back. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is a lovely idea. My only concern is that celebrations/gifts that involve "what do you want to do next?" sometimes fall just a touch flat. If it's my birthday and this is my gift, I don't want to have to decide anything. I want you to have control of it from start to finish and just let me know what fun awaits me next. So if you go with a less formal day, I'd suggest you have a set agenda in your head (keeping it flexible if you planned disc golf and she is looking yearningly toward the pool) and just let her feel pampered and taken care of. This may be your plan anyway, and I may have wasted a post, but I thought it was worth throwing it out there. You, of course, know your wife better than I do, so all of this may not apply. |
