30/60 at the B - Ive never encountered a rock that I can recall.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only one that I ever saw was made out of 6 chips and had a rubber band tied around it.

Now that we all agree the rock is dead, what happened to them?

His name is Hoyt. He will call you down and grimace the whole way though.

I only know two at Caesar's IN. They both used to play in the $10-20 game and they did really well for quite a long time. Why in the world anyone would call without the nuts, when they bet or raised is beyond me. One of the rocks went out to Casino AZ for a month or so and got his head kicked in. Rock strategy doesn't seem to work any more. He could get away with it at Caesar's IN, why? I don't know but I assume he didn't get enough action on his good hands at Casino AZ to beat the rake but that is just an assumption.

The other rock moved to NL and seems to be doing very well. He is an excellent player so he would probably be more profitable if he loosened up a little.

There is one true rock in the O8 game here. Plays about 10% of his non-blind hands and will never bet our or raise without knowing (1) that he has the nuts and (2) that he is not being quartered.

They all died, retired or evolved. Not really an answer, but I think it is a mixture of the three.

I play with two of them every week. They're ridiculous. ONLY premiums, we always know when to get out of the way though.

These are the guys who REGULARLY blind out of our tournaments. Once in a million, they take down a tournament when they have the right timing with other people's great hands, but with no regular frequency.

Wow TT, great thread. I never thought about it before reading this. I've noticed in my hand posts in SSHE forum, and others that I've read, most of the time you read, "loose/passive" describing the table.

I'll bet if you dig into the archives it would read, "kinda loose, with some rocks.", and even deeper still, "a table full of rocks, with one maniac."

So, I thought about my local rocks. Two or three still play the same, and they happen to be all over 80 years old. The rest have evolved into loose/passives. By loose I mean they play around 40-50% of their hands.

I think TV poker has alot to do with it. Over time, they see Flaak, Hansen, and the lot, playing so many hands, and winning, that they've slowly changed their game (without them even knowing it) to a more loose pre-flop style. I think the passivity post-flop is the "old rock" still within them.

Let me add that they still play like a rock preflop in the sense that if they raise preflop, run away very fast.

Any game that has me in it...has at least one rock

I have evolved. Many years ago I sat at a Mohegan Sun $5-$10 kill game.

I was wearing a green Jets hat. One of the players commented that when I sat down the hat was white, however all of the moss gathered on my hat because I was such a rock. I was card dead for like 4 hours and played maybe 6 hands including the blinds.

There's an 88 year old retired Doctor I've played with. LHE. I've only seen him show down A to 10 suited, or pairs JJ and above. Period.
