Re: Men the Master: Class Act
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Being nice to children doesn't make getting caught with a suitcase full of tournament chips any less scummy. [/ QUOTE ] Huh? Link? [/ QUOTE ] I remember reading something about him getting caught with some tournament chips somewhere, but I don't think it was anything close to a suitcase full of them, and I don't know whether what I read was correct or not. It could have just been one of those internet rumors. |

Re: Men the Master: Class Act
The rumor is that he and some of his students were cooking in their hotel room at the site of a tournament. They started a small fire while cooking, and when the hotel staff responded they found a bunch of tournament chips in the hotel room.

He also robbed a pro from the netherlands from some chips just recently at the WSOP 2006. He's a scumbag, I couldn't care less how he threads the public, it's a lowlife. To OP: Nice hand. |

Re: Men the Master: Class Act
[ QUOTE ]
The most blatant accusation against Men centers around an incident that took place in Mashantucket, Connecticut, at Foxwoods Casino. Men was there with his guys for a poker tournament. As is their norm, they arrived with coolers full of steak, fish, rice and Coors. They shared a suite and set it up with hot plates, steamers and a fridge. After a team member overcooked dinner, the room filled with smoke and fire alarms went off. Hotel workers rushed inside and asked Men and his guys to leave while they dealt with the situation. The fire was put out, but rumors spread that tournament chips were found in the room. If true, that’s a terrible infraction of poker-tournament rules. It means that players on Men’s team had been pulling chips from the tournament as their likelihood of getting knocked out became more and more of a certainty, and they then provided those chips to the group’s winning players, who could surreptitiously supplement their chip stacks. Men denies this completely. He insists that he got thrown out due to the fire, not for cheating. (Foxwoods has confirmed this, but, as one player puts it, “Of course, they would; the last thing they want anybody to think is that their tournaments can be corrupted.”) [/ QUOTE ] here is the link |

Re: Men the Master: Class Act
I recall reading on RGP that DN accused MtM of cheating. Something about passing high denomination chips during breaks. Wish I had the link; it happened a few years ago.

[ QUOTE ]
... but more likely Men taught her how to sell candy bars and now expects 10% of her candy bar sales for life and her sister is a half-sister at best. [/ QUOTE ] Lol, is this really "more likely?" Good post in any case. I remember on one of my first poker trips at Foxwoods a few years ago, Men was collecting handfuls of cash for orphaned children in Vietnam or something. People seemed more than willing to hand it over. It was also during that trip that someone claimed with a straight face that Men enjoys good luck and good karma because he makes donations to Buddhist temples in his homeland. To the person who claimed Men stole chips from a Dutch pro at WSOP 2006: Story? |
