[ QUOTE ]
Nah, half the people trading it have no idea what their current cash flows are much less their future cash flow. It's defined more like the dollar weighted average of what buyers want to pay for it and what sellers want to get for it. [/ QUOTE ] FYP. but in reality, it is like buffet said, price is just what is willing to be paid. the willingness may be based on future cashf low analysis but stock prices are not, and cannot be, defined that way. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Def of stock price: The present value of all future cash flows. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't that the definition of Intrinsic Value? Much different than the definition of stock price. [/ QUOTE ] No that is the def of stock price. That is it. [/ QUOTE ] interesting, so the present value of future cash flows changes daily, even in stable markets? oh wait, those changes must just be the difference of opinions on the inputs to the models, right? My favorites right now: Conoco Phillips (COP) Bank of America (BAC) [/ QUOTE ] With you on these two.........my biggest position is Pacific Ethanol, a play that will do well with the surging ethanol boom. Right now, have less than 10% of my investment capital in stocks..........not a place to be right now in my humble opinion. -FH- |

nintendo is really good right now, but don't spread it around too much. got the tip from a hedge fund partner. [/ QUOTE ] I know nothing about trading, but the only thing I do know is that there is a lot of value in the company. Their home console, the Wii, is soon going to overtake the Xbox360 in worldwide sales and their portable system, the DS continues to just print money for them. The next year could potentially be the most lucrative year for any videogame maker ever. Nintendo, unlike Microsoft and Sony, make money on the consoles they sell so even when Ninty was struggling they showed profit. Now, having the strongest sellers on the market they are just going to be rolling in profit. |

I imagine OP now has more questions than answers. Seriously, if you don't have the time to invest in serious research, just put it in index funds.
