Interesting bet. I'd want to see the subject for 5-10 minutes before making it. If he is already pulling himself up and standing you are in trouble, if he is just doing some rudimentary crawling, I'd say you are probably alright. It's not a bad bet. I'd say you are a slight favorite, but the fact that your opponent can influence the outcome probably mitigates this advantage.

bad news.

my son turned one last thursday. he's been walking for four weeks. he was capable of it for at least 2 or 3 weeks before, in that he'd let go and take a step or two and then you could see him look around and realize 'holy crap, i'm not holding on to anything' and he'd panic and fall. finally one day he made it across the room without realizing he wasn't holding on to anything. then he realized he didn't need to hold on to anything any more, and he was walking pretty much like a champ from that point on.

granting, my son is pretty much 10 times better than your buddy's kid. so i'm sure it's a good bet for you.

11 months is not terribly unusual.

I'm not even getting started on this.

Prop bet him that he can't keep his mouth shut about his spawn for the next year.

Even if you lose, you win.
