[ QUOTE ] I think you guys that say Grey Goose sucks are cool, and I want to be more like you. [/ QUOTE ] I never said that it sucks, just said that most people who say that it's the best vodka are naive and know very little about booze in general. [/ QUOTE ] Yea, thats probably true. Im not sayin its the best but I think its pretty good, although I do agree that it is overpriced. |

I like Roth and Ketel One, in that order. I agree with what most of the others say about Grey Goose--it's overpriced for the quality. Also, Trump has a new vodka out which is priced as if it's a premium vodka but which is basically fermented piss. If you see it in the store and think "that's a good vodka to buy, after all it has the Trump name on it," well, just don't.

I haven't tried Zyr. Could you guys who're pimping it tell me which premium vodkas you prefer it to? Have you tried Rain?

I'm a fan of Ciroc. It goes down smooth and has an interesting taste.

Anything above Mr. Boston works for me.
Some quotes from a Forbes article on vodka [ QUOTE ] Despite all the hype and promotional gush about only using only estate-grown potatoes and water from glacier-fed mountain streams, making vodka is ridiculously easy. There's none of that tricky, and very expensive, messing around with oak barrels and long-aging that goes into making whisky or cognac--you simply ferment a mash of wheat, rye or potatoes, run the result through a still, filter it to remove the last vestiges of the oils and congeners that impart flavor, and stick it in the bottle. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] know marketing and brand identity are vital for all alcoholic beverages but for no other drink are sales driven less by what's in the bottle and more by the shape of it. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] One example of many: Vox claims that "The use of demineralized water removes all traces of color, taste and odor allowing the true essence of vodka to shine through." Hmm...makes you wonder what that true essence is after everything has been removed except the alcohol and the water. The packaging perhaps? Vox does come in an impressive-looking bottle. [/ QUOTE ] They do go on to say that yes, there is an obvious taste difference between regular and super-premium vodkas. I agree with this, but I also agree with [ QUOTE ] If I am drinking a martini then I want absolutely the best vodka I can find but to pour a $30 super-premium vodka into a Bloody Mary is pure extravagance. [/ QUOTE ] I recently tried level vodka and liked it a lot. |

I'm a fan of Ciroc. It goes down smooth and has an interesting taste. [/ QUOTE ] I liked Ciroc also, but thought it tasted different enough to not really be vodka. Smirnoff was the near-unanimous choice in a blind taste test done by the NYTimes food section about 2 years ago. |
