[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What about Kobe vs. Wade? [/ QUOTE ] Kobe, he's done more with mediocre/terrible squads than Wade [/ QUOTE ] Since when? Wade had a team that started what 0-7 and made the EC semifinals with a team composed of Odom, Butler, Haslem, E. Jones, Alston. Yes it's the EC, but I don't think Kobe's done that much better with a bunch of mediocre teammates. [/ QUOTE ] Kobe took them to the first round of the 2006 playoffs, where they lost 5-2 to the Phoenix Suns. Pretty impressive stuff. |

As Tuq said Kobe took them to the playoffs last year. They were terrible the season before but Kobe was playing without Shaq for the first time, without Phil, and with a whole new cast so it's not really surprising. In terms of carrying a mediocre team on his back Kobe is much better

The Kobe over KG thing is kind of puzzling if you think about it. Since 2004-2005, with arguably equally bad supporting casts, the two players have put up great numbers only to see their teams flail around the edge of the playoffs. Yes Kobe's teams have fared slightly better. But what do you base the slam-dunk on? The fact that Kobe won rings alongside Shaq, one of the greatest centers ever? Is Kobe that much of a superior player over KG...? It's hard to compare the two since they play vastly different styles, but Garnett is averaging 23 ppg, nearly 13 rebs, and 4 assists a game this season...
I sort of agree with you it's a slam-dunk, I'm just not sure I know why. I thought NBA wisdom says take a skilled big man over a guard ALMOST ALWAYS |
