as far as which tourneys to play- any $5 on Stars is super soft- very beatable. And play the 18man $8 sats to the $24's on FTP. Your roll is a little lite for that, but you'll build up to it soon. The 24's are so soft.

I do think with the exception of a top 3 finish in a MTT, playing cash is better for building bankroll.

the thing is, there really arent that many MTTs you should be playing on a $300 br

Cmon.....this isnt true at all!

Stars has a ton of of tournaments in the $1 to $4 range and there are
always 45 player SNGs for $1 - $3.25. Also the $4 180 SNG.

These would be a good way for him to get his feet wet in MTTs, and
see if he likes them without breaking his bankroll.

try MTTs, see if you like them.

Another pro of MTTs is that you encounter many different and interesting situations. MTT's are much less monotonous than cash games.

This is what I would say. If it comes down to strict hourly rate, cash games might be best for you, but it is a lot less entertaining, and the chances of winning $2K in a week grinding $10NL & 25NL are practically non-existant. If you play a good ammount of $2-$10 MTTs in a week, a $2K payday is actually within grasp.

You should probably start out with something like the $3R 25K guarantee that Stars runs a bunch.

i think playing cash on a $300 BR is an absolute waste of time. just grind SNGs / small field mtts to get to >$1000 imo.

I think playing SNGs will make you more money than the others in the next few months.

However, if you intend to get really serious there is more money to be made at cash longterm.

Not really sure what MTTs you can play with $300, might not be worth it wrt multitabling and stuff.

Kingdan:
do you really think SNG's will be making more money/juicier in the next few months, maybe 1 year?

It seems that alot of people are leaving SNGs to play cash games etc..

There aren't enough that you can multitable but there's usually one and then you can fill up your screen with 4/180's, and 3/45's. Not sure what timezone OP is on but from 0:00 to 11:00 server time there is one starting every hour with buy-ins between .10 and 3.30. If OP wants to play US nights there isn't as much. from 17:00 to 20:15 server time there are 5 between .50 and 2.75. The only multitabling possibilities are if you start one every hour and go deep in a few you can get up to 3 or 4 tables of just MTT's.
