Re: delgado for HOF??
[ QUOTE ]
Do you guys feel that "intangibles" are part of a player being the hall of fame? Because I feel Delgado has plenty of them. I'm saying this to the people that feel its 50/50, would that be enough to push him to one side? [/ QUOTE ]no, if you need to convince yourself whether he should be in, then the answer is he shouldn't. |

What intangibles does Delgado have? [/ QUOTE ] He smiles alot, and is a nice guy. That's worth like 5 wins a season. |

Re: delgado for HOF??
Also, comparing Zo's rank in PER amongst the league with Delgado's OPS rank is unfair.
A 900 OPS SS is worth alot more than a 1000 OPS 1B/DH, while with PER position doesn't matter in assessing a players overall value. |

Re: delgado for HOF??
I watched every Met game I could this season. He always seemed to be talking to players when they screwed up and little things like that. Every time they interview a player from the Mets they always talk about Delgado's leadership. That is just from being a fan of the Mets and what I heard the players on the team say.
Do I care if he gets in the HoF? No, not really. He won't be a Met when he goes in. Sorry about trying to make the case for the guy. |

Re: delgado for HOF??
[ QUOTE ]
If Mourning gets into the HOF, it'll be a pity entry due to the surgery. If he never had any health problems, he'd probably be close to a shoe-in. He just hasn't played enough minutes. [/ QUOTE ] Disagree. He was a seven-time all-star. Also, he had a nice college career, and in basketball, it is one HoF for college/pro combined. I think Mourning, if he retired today, would be in. Anyway, hijack over. Delgado, today, not in HoF. If he gets a ring and 500 HRs, and has another 2-3 productive seasons in NEW YORK, he will get in. |

[/ QUOTE ] well i am a met fan and have watched him tutor reyes and generally watches over the entire team. Don't get me wrong, I think intangibles are overrated, but just pointing that out. Interesting note, I'm listening to WFAN right now and they were just discussing delgado. One of the commentators said delgado should be able to make it if/when he breaks past 500...but I think that number's value is getting diminished in this era... |

[/ QUOTE ] i don't think anyone is going to give delgado much credit for intangibles when it took him until 2006 to make the playoffs. |
