This was really difficult. So many of these stories are good! I'm like Carter, I could have voted for a bunch.

Okay it's closed.
I counted the votes, and 4 stories were at the top, within 3 votes of each other as specified in the initial voting rules. These were: The Emigre - 5 votes Vespers - 5 votes Insufficient Funds - 3 votes Statis, Numbers - 3 votes A little later today once people are around, I'll set up a final 4-way vote for these 4, to run until end of day Monday (so as not to disadvantage the non-Weekend people). Now there are only 4 left, I hope more people at least read those 4 and cast a vote. I have to say the standard of writing in this contest was very high IMO, and this was reflected in the scattering of votes - many stories got at least one. Special mention for KilgoreTrout's tale of red-assed baboons. I'm pretty sure he realised it wouldn't likely win a writing contest, but it was very funny to keep stumbling across thanks Carter |

Congratulations to the four survivors. I will reread all four before final voting.
Thank you DerrtySlime for the compliment. I liked the little cockroach too. |

To echo Dane, thank you for all who voted for Vespers. It has been a very gratifying experience.
