Some people do anything under the guise of, "I was just trying to tilt him."

[ QUOTE ] Why is it OK to try to tilt people through other means, (retarded chat, screen names that make light of things like the holocaust, 9/11 and so on etc) [/ QUOTE ] Since when have screenames about 9/11 and the holocaust been ok? [/ QUOTE ] since 9/11 and the holocaust... not really |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
[ QUOTE ]
I think the argument is that you are not only effecting the person in the hand, but everyone at the table by wasting there time. Where do you draw the line between trying to get someone to tilt vs etiquette? Just like slow playing on the bubble. I've got no problem showing someone a bluff, because its specially aimed at them, and doesn't waste other people's time. Yeah I know the argument can be made of trying to tilt the whole table, but again, where do you draw the line? [/ QUOTE ] I don't really buy this explanation. You can effectively slowroll someone and take just like 4 seconds. [ QUOTE ] Because slowrolling is inherently showing up the other dude whereas retarted chat/offensive screen names don't have that characteristic. Retarted chat to try to tilt someone like "ZOMG YOU SUCK... FISH. CMON FISHY, PLAY SOME MORE PLZ" doesn't really attack a person's pride in the same way slowrolling does. Slowrolling is all about ego. It's like the loser of the hand is saying "OMG, not only did you win the hand, but you forced me to sit here agonizing my bluff shove on the river and you squeezed out every ounce of drama out of me with the best possible hand. You tricked me. Bastard." Slowrolling has a different vibe that just cuts deeper than loudmouth idiot donk chat. [/ QUOTE ] This makes a lot of sense to me, thanks for the response. With all of that being true, it seems like 2+2ers should try to not be bothered by being slowrolled instead of getting all worked up about it. |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
And another thing....
When people like Cory Zeidman try to explain themselves years after the fact during the WSOP ME final table in a GOD AWFUL explanation that runs longer than 5 minutes, that kinda shows how much the perception of slowrolling can affect someone's pride if they're perceived to be a slowroller. It's a stigma, it cuts deep. |

Re: The negative stigma against slowrolling- I don\'t get it.
personaly, I play this game to try ad win money. not to please some untold internet etiquitte. if slow rolling a player at my table will cause him to tilt and maximize my bottom line, I have no probem with that. if I get slowrolled and can't figure it out, that's my mistake.
