[ QUOTE ]
I stopped downloading music because I found that if I could get it for free and didn't have to be somewhat discerning about what I got, I just filled up folders with crap. [/ QUOTE ] I listen to about 97% of the music I download. The other 3% I download for other people and have no desire to listen to. It is also nice to have a huge library available on command for when I want to hear a certain song. |

Re: russia is shutting down allofmp3 to join the world trade organizat
[ QUOTE ]
This leads people to piracy when they realize the system is flawed in its design. And the RIAA is too blind to see it. They would prefer to sue everyone who chooses to pirate instead of looking at the reasons for why they are pirating the music. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you're really fooling yourself. DRM causes piracy? hahahahaha. If only we could go back to the carefree days when mp3 was first introduced, when there was no piracy, and everyone paid for their music, and mp3 was only used to make backup copies and to burn mix CDs. |

How can the RIAA make the government do literally everything they want them to do.
I'm going to buy some music off the site just as a protest edit ok guess I won't since I can't pay with my debit card |

Re: russia is shutting down allofmp3 to join the world trade organizat
I agree with all your sentiments regarding DRM, however:
[ QUOTE ] Information wants to be free, and music is just information. [/ QUOTE ] as I've said before, I think musicians should get paid for what they do. I am saying this as someone who has worked as a professional musician for almost 15 years. I personally don't have a problem giving away music I make, and neither do many other musicians, however I very strongly believe it should be up to me to make that choice. |

Also I have a rhapsody subscription but it always freezes for about 5 seconds every 3 songs or so then gets really loud for the rest of the song. I would cancel it if there was another option because its really annoying. Hell, sometimes I time out and fold hands because it freezes my whole damn computer for 5 seconds

Re: russia is shutting down allofmp3 to join the world trade organizat
kipin your argument sounds pretty good, but i would say 95% of the people who make it really just want the music for free and find piracy more convenient/desirable. if the cost was less prohibitive (and for many young people even the good pay services cost enough for it to be a factor) and the pay services met their needs, they wouldn't care so much.

I personally have no problem going to concerts and supporting an artist that way, but I will not, ever, buy another CD put out by the big 5 recording studios. |

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly, its basically a simple economics Supply/Demand thing and with digital media there is infinite supply so the price should be very close, if not entirely at 0. The problem with the age of the internet is that the media suits no longer can continue to live their lavish lifestyle if everyone is getting their music for free, or nearly free so they are fighting HARD to keep things the way they once were. In the land of business you need to evolve or die. The media companies in my mind are doing a pretty poor job of evolving. |
