I fold the river. I think it's a wishful thinking to call that river expecting to win 1-4. If you think he is peeling super light (IE unpaired) than fire a second barrel.

with the pot so small, we would be betting for value rather than protection (assuming villain has no pair). so the question is, does villain call a turn bet unpaired more often than he will bluff the river unpaired? if the answer is yes, then betting is correct. if the answer is no, then check/calling is correct.

edit: i think he has to bluff the river a little more often than he calls the turn because of the times he hits on the river.

It would be a turn bet to fold out unpaired hands. A turn bet is essentially a bluff. If you are willing to call a bet on the river then you expect him to have called with an unpaired hand on the flop some % of the time (hopefully approaching 25%). We can generally fold those hands out on the turn.

It's a moot point for me since I'm in check fold mode after the flop.

krishan,

I played this hand months ago so was unsure on specific reads outside of the guys numbers. Based on his numbers though (70/10 with WTSD > 50) I do think he peels flop with hands I beat a fair portion of the time. I guess just betting the turn is probably best in this situation, but since we did check and he checked behind I think there is a decnt chance of inducing a river bluff from this sort of player.

and are you sucessful player urself?

He did have a breakeven stretch of 100k hands. Not what I call a "successful" player.

Only recently he was struggling in the blinds asking for everyones screenshots of there blinds.

Are you trying to imply that successful players can't ask others for help? Or that to be successful, one must be above everyone else? To me, it's more important that an author is able to convey his/her message in such a way that the reader can understand, and of course, the message should be correct, thorough, interesting, etc etc. Just because Sklansky isn't one of the top ten players in the world, that doesn't mean I don't find his books helpful.

It sounds like you are focusing on the turn check. I'm focusing on the flop call. I really think the river call is -EV.

Seems like an easy turn fold. If you want to make a play I like raising better than calling.
