Re: Ichiro and a hypothetical question for stats/Sabermetrics folks
no actually yours was pretty stupid but youre another one of these clowns that think if 2 guys have the same obp and slg that they are equally talented without looking at anything else
It reminds me a lot of the 12 tabling PT nits who think every 25/10 plays exactly the same because their too buried in their stats to open their eyes |

i find this hard to believe [/ QUOTE ] When we see motion out of the corner of our eye instinctively we tend to look at it. If this means we're no longer looking at a little white ball our BA will go down quit. I know Mike Schmidt absolutely hated when runners went while he was at the plate. |

Re: Ichiro and a hypothetical question for stats/Sabermetrics folks
lol at ppl saying that ichiro would swing harder if he wanted to hit more HR. his average would dip because he would be trying to hit the bottom of the ball instead of the middle.

Re: Ichiro and a hypothetical question for stats/Sabermetrics folks
I'd advise Ichiro to not attempt this, as a surge in HR rate after the age of 35 may serve to convict him in the eyes of many SI subscribers.

Where did anyone say swing harder? 2. "trying to hit the bottom of the ball results in foul balls, and at best infield pop-ups. This NOT what any batter would do to increase power. |

Re: Ichiro and a hypothetical question for stats/Sabermetrics folks
[ QUOTE ]
The whole question is absurd since with ichiro baserunning skills you need him on base as much as possible. [/ QUOTE ] The fact that you want Ichiro OB as much as posible does not make the question absurd. The question meant to see what kind of power numbers would it take to make it +EV to lose some of the lead-off and base-stealing that Ichiro brings. If Ichiro could hit 290 and drive in 130runs I doubt anyone would say that Seattle would be better off having him on base more at leadoff and getting 60RBI a year. |
