Your opinion matches mine and is how the DOI has interpreted the law in the other states.

but one thing not mentioned in any of the other posts, while the state and local gov's have no power to stop the games if they are in the same class of gaming offered elsewhere in the state (IMO) they do have a bit of leverage. Mainly they do not have to supply power, sewer, road access etc. .. yeah its not likely, but possible as a barganing chip.

I don't think FPL is going to turn away the business of 4 large hotels anytime soon.

SOULVAMP and everyone who is so sure that there is no mention or PROOF that Poker is even being disscussed as part of the COMPACT!!!

Here is irrefutable PROOF that it is!

While the issue of changes to what's curently permitted reguarding Poker has not been finalized it is being addressed.

The Draft "DEFINATLY DOES" contain a Paragraph L.
"L. [POSSIBLE PROVISION TO BE ADDED WITH RESPECT TO POKER OPERATIONS.]"

The issue has not been finalized but the negotiations as backed by the articles already listed by others with information from those directly involved suggest the issue of raising the stakes for Poker is being addressed.

So you are wrong about "no mention" of Poker in the Compact!

There is no guarentee that in the FINAL DRAFT, Paragraph L., will allow any changes to the current POKER Rules which are now the same as the Parimutuals, or give the Indian Casinos FULL control of what POKER games and stakes they will spread, but it is clear that it is being negotiated.

Hope this settles the argument!

In addition we should all HOPE that the Indian Casinos do get to spread whatever Poker Games they want....because the best and easiest (and best for us) way to solve the unfair advantage the Indian casinos whould get over the Parimutal card rooms would then be....to allow the Parimutals to run whatever Poker games and limits the Indians are allowed.

Is there any doubt that the lobbyists and the lawyers representing the Parimutal's will make that argument should the Indian casinos be allowed other then the current Poker rules?
