Dumb ask me thread. I didn't even play basketball in HS, but if I wanted to I could have played on my D3 team... and we went to nationals.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you would have easily made the D3 team you would have been the best or close to the best player at your high school unless it was quite big. I really doubt you would have made the team and you're probably delusional. Not disagreeing it's a dumb thread so far, but it's possible it could get better.

My next "ask me" thread:

Ask me what it's like to shop in a supermarket.

Definitely didn't need to be the best on my HS team to get on a D3 squad. Maybe if I wanted to start my freshman year, yes, but at my school (which is small, which is kinda the point of D3) pretty much anyone could be 'on the team', you would just sit.

The same thing for baseball, which I did play in college. We had a guy who never played before, he was on the team for a year before quitting. Might as well be a ask me what its like to go to a D3 school, because if you go to a D3 school you can pretty much get on any of the sports teams. It's kinda the point of going to a D3 school. Obviously the best D3 squads for sports are different, but I'm talking about the average D3 school.

In my experience (3 or 4 D3 schools I'm familiar with, didn't go to one) baseball was different. They usually were just looking for players and heard of several players that were horrible players make the team while for basketball none of the players who made the team weren't at a minimum solid starters for their high school team. I guess it could be different for other D3 schools in different areas.

I guess it depends on the program, but at my school you could 'get on' any sport team. Granted, you wouldn't start unless you were actually good, and a there were B squads they would put you on so you would play, but you practiced and dressed w/ varsity. This was every sport at our school including soccer which has been a top 10 national team for the last 10 years.
