IMO, everything on the strip is walking distance. More physical activity is never a bad thing. It sucks pretty bad on hot days, and the crowds are never easy to get through, but we need the activity when all we do at the destination is sit our our azzez, play cards, and drink beer. There's plenty of eye candy in the crowds anyways, which makes them more tolerable.

Edit: Snagging a free bottle of water from whatever casino you are in makes the trip much more tolerable.

[ QUOTE ]
Last July (120 degrees F) the wife and I walked from Tropicana to Venitian because she was too cheap to cab it.

We took the cab back.

Haha, me and my friend did this exact same thing. We had just gotten done playing at MGM and we decide to walk to Venetian.

45 minutes.

I don't mind wandering up the East side of the Strip from MGM to Venetian (or even Wynn)- there are plenty of places to stop and get a drink or enjoy some air conditioning on the way.

Longest walk I can (fuzzily) remember was from Casino Royale to NYNY. Not so much the distance, but the fact that I could barely stand/see from my 20 hour drinking session =) I somehow missed the turn in the sidewalk about halfway down and ended up walking down a lane on the Strip. Luckily it was about 5am, so I didn't get run down by some crazed cabbie.

Walking the Strip (at night, I would never suggest doing it during the day) is something everyone should do once.

After that, unless you are going a manageable distance (Caesars to Wynn) or there is a complete mess at the cab stand, I wouldn't bother walking.

Because it's 20 minutes standing in line?

Surf is already recognized as THE slowest walker on 2+2. What would be 15 minutes for most any of us is 40 minutes for him. So he'd come out ahead timewise with the 20 minute cab line. For the rest of us, if the weather doesn't suck it's a nice stroll.

This thread amuses me. Hardly a day goes by where I don't walk up and down half the Strip even if it's just for a little exercise. One of my standard walks is basically Bally's - MGM Grand - New York New York - Bellagio. And, I often take two of these walks a day.

You da man.

You can also get the same exercise by walking from the MGM garage to the poker room.
