One note - the OP has me confused with someone else, as I'm quite sure I never agreed to update the FAQ.

curtains is correct. My OP was wrong. It was citanul who volunteered to update t perkin's FAQ. curtains, citanul -- they both sound alike kinda.

Thanks to all for the kind words. I'd appreciate it if you could take a moment to mention any of your favorite threads that I missed.

It's a good thing, I'm sure my FAQ wouldn't be very popular

Glad to see that my terrible first few efforts have been improved. Best of luck with this.

5.3. STANDARD DEVIATION

Irieguy’s Why the standard deviation for SNGs is always about 1.5-2.0

[/ QUOTE ]

Not to be an ass, but this post I made predates Irieguy's SD thread by a couple of months.

Default 7.4. RECORD KEEPING

7.4. RECORD-KEEPING

AleoMagus’s SNG spreadsheet (download link in this thread) is good for users with some (very) basic knowledge of MS Excel. It can automatically record tournaments thanks to some clever VBasic macros. It provides comprehensive splits for level, day, and time of day, and calculates a number of statistical performance measures such as ROI confidence intervals. It also tracks bankroll and risk of ruin.

Hood's SNG Tracker is another popular piece of results-tracking software. It can import data from a Poker Tracker database and produce some fine-looking visuals of finish distributions and profit.

Poker Tracker is a commercial program that imports hand histories stored on your hard drive and generates statistics and reports based on them for you and your opponents. Many sites store the HH's on your hard drive automatically, and PT can also import them from emailed tournament summaries. Poker Tracker can be used by beginning players for self-evaluation and by more advanced players as an opponent-scouting tool.

Slim, thanks for the contribution. It'd be great if others could add some favorite threads of their own.

For example, one area where my OP is weak is post-flop play. Can anyone suggest some good threads?

BTW, Paul, thanks for pointing out your own post, which I missed. I'd be delighted even if posters just suggested some of their own best threads.

The Shadow
