Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
Here's what I said:
[ QUOTE ] He might be the best shooter THIS year, but I'd definitely put him the best mid range jump shooter. [/ QUOTE ] Here's what you said: [ QUOTE ] Its great to have an opinion and all, but something like "best shooter in the league" is an objective quantity that we have statistics for. Rip has been hot this year but the last 3 years his shooting was god awfull. If he continues for the rest of the year and next year he belongs up there. Hard to put a guy in the upper tier because of 60 games though. [/ QUOTE ] Reading comprehension? LOLOLOL. hahahahahahahah... First off, I never said he was in the upper tier, I said the first tier was Dirk, Peja, and Allen. Second, what statistics are you referring to? Are you referring to FG%? OK, let's compare: Player- '03 FG, '04 FG, '05 FG Dirk: .463, .462, .459 Peja: .481, .480, .444 Allen: .439, .440, .428 Redd: .469, .440, .441 Hamilton: .443, .455, .440 Note: I know his 3PT% blows, but he's working on it. I said he was the best mid range shooter. Please explain to me how his % are god awful. Maybe it would help if you watched a Piston game first? lololol. PS. Other tier 2 shooters IMO: Korver, Voshon Lenard (when healthy), Nash, Rashard. I'm sure I'm leaving some others off. |

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
The fact that you include vashon leonard in any discussion about good shooters negates your entire "opinion" on good shooters.

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
Edit: Forget it, its no use arguing to bandwagon fans who say one thing, get refuted, then come up with stupid baseless comeback comments since they didn't really know what they were talking about in the first place.

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
I am a Nuggets fan, I had season tickets my last two years of college. I have not missed his horrid shooting at all. He is the typical shooter that will go 2-10 from 3 but you only remeber the two in a row he made.
Fact is if Rip plays this well next year he easily will join the 2nd tier guys. He isn't right now though. Watching games is a real misleading way to determine a great shooter. This is the one element of the game that can be looked at purely by statistics. |

[ QUOTE ]
Chauncy Billups Chris Paul JJ Redick Kobe Bryant Dwyane Wade Lebron James Bruce Bowen Elton Brand Dwight Howard Brad Miller Amare Stoudemire Shane Battier/Greg Oden... (this really depends on how well Oden develops, if he's not ready this last spot goes to Battier) [/ QUOTE ] I'm interested in hearing why Battier/Oden over Marion. |

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The rest: 10. Gilbert Arenas An offensive-minded guard who can light it up and/or run the point. I think he's more versatile than Kobe, too. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think is true. Arenas can score but not as good as Kobe. He's not a very good true point guard, maybe not even as good as Kobe, and he doesn't play D or rebound as well as Kobe. Other than he is a little quicker, he does nothing better than Kobe, IMO. [/ QUOTE ] I think his point guard skills are much better than Kobe's. He's not as good of a scorer as Kobe, but not as selfish either. I think he can make the players around him better than Kobe would. Besides, this team needs role players, not more stars. |

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
Arenas is a combo guard. He is supposed to score and he will want to score. You can't say "well he is a point guard" and thus feel he is a good addition to a team that needs role players. The same could be said about Stephon Marbury or Steven Francis. They certainly know how to pass the ball but ultimately they would be a detriment to a team that could not cater them as primary scoring options.
