I love to play your grandfathers. They are fish.

Seriously though, live play is way easier than online.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have played 3-6 and 4-8 online at Party, though I don't anymore.
Most of my play is "live" at Wynn or Bellagio, where I play 4-8 or 8-16. I don't find those games any easier than the ones I played online.

It is a myth that nobody at the tables knows how to play. True you do run into some poor players, bot in B&M and online. They are known as "fish" and are highly sought IMO.
But I see plenty of good players too. The games are beatable but challenging. Many of the things we see and discuss on this forum work very well.

I was once a member of a very sophisticated horseracing group. The myth there was that anybody who wasn't a member, or who did things differently than we did was a loser. Total bllsht, of course. I see some of that here too among the online jockeys. But I feel like live poker is the "real" poker, a game of not just cards and math but also of people. And no matter what one thinks of PT stats, players change during the games, sometimes in ways that are best appreciated by seeing them face-to-face.

Just my $,02 worth...

i am a pretty serious 2/4 3/6 player and decided to quit and go back playing online again against people who know what they are doing. I just lost my bankroll to a combination of getting cold deck and idiots calling to the river with bottom pair. I don't know about everyone else where they play but in atlantic city it is joke. No one knows anything and i even play the way sklansky suggests to play against loose passive players and nothing has worked. At one point i made 1700 in two weeks but since then i have lost all and a lot more so i give up....wish me luck online even tho i won't need it as much.

I'm sure the SS games in Vegas are tougher than the game at my local casino. It is located in basically the middle of nowhere. The average line-up is 4 grandpas, 2 hicks, 2 grandmas, and 1 college kid. I guess I'm accustomed to the suckiness that I enjoy there. I did travel to StL (President's Casino) last week, and the game there was a bit tougher, but still good.

Why did you put "live" in quotes? Are you a zombie????

And seriously, the person who asked "what are you betting that can't beat bottom pair?" makes the most important point here.* You can't bluff a calling station.

*Although you can occasionally make a thin value bet with AK-high against people who call down with any unimproved A. They do exist, and pay off.

I seriously think you just experienced a bad run on a short bankroll. Trust me, getting action from donkeys in a live game and getting beats is way better than not getting any action from tight online players.

Truer words have never been said.
To Original Poster read SSHE by Miller and you will understand all. These games are a goldmine if you know how to play them.
