Alright, I watched both weeks and didn't stumble across this thread until now, so I was unbiased about Dom's participation. My thoughts:
1) For serious, the guy sucks. He's painful. My friends (who are all in what I'm assuming would be around your target demo - mid to late 20s) mock him. And by mock, I mean "verbally rip to shreds." I don't see how you will continue having a gig there if you don't get rid of him. He's top-10 all-time for host douchieness. 2) The girl's hot and could work, but she suffers in the douchelight of the male host. Wacky does not equal cool, and it lessens hotness. 3) The second week was way better than the first week because you actually went somewhere and did something, and because the segments weren't live. The live segments were badly handled. Whether that was you or New York, I have no idea. Just telling you what I saw on my TV, which was pauses at the beginning of segments and getting cut off at the end. 4) If the bits had nothing to do with poker and everything to do with vegas, that would be fine (and possibly preferable). The thing with the guy and girl playing each other was lame. Seriously, the viewers know poker already, and you're just not going to come up with entertaining or funny segments about it, unless you do it straight and factual (a 90 second look inside the bellagio poker room THAT'S NOT GOOFY, for instance). Seeing the esplenade, while still corny, was much less painful to watch than the stupid poker jokes. Make it more of a travel-show segment with a hot chick and someone who's not a douche and I won't cringe as much. 5) Again, please get rid of the dude. We hate him. Everyone. No one has said otherwise. It is unimaginable that anyone could say otherwise. 6) RELAX. The tone of HSP is very laid back. The tone of your segments is high-energy (thanks in large part to the douche). The shift in feel works very much against the enjoyment of your pieces, because we're there to watch HSP and are therefore tuned into its feel. The shift in energy is jarring. There you go. I've always thought from reading your posts on here that you seemed like a good guy, and again I watched these segments not knowing you were involved, so I hope you take my critiques as being objective and not personal. But if I could play any small part in getting that douchey jackass canned, I could go to my grave knowing that I did, indeed, do something positive with my time here on earth. Do the right thing, Dom. Do the right thing. -bb. |

Sorry, DOM- I first caught this during episode 2 and found it (shopping after her poker win) somewhat irritating. I don't like the chemistry onscreen between the two, it seems forced.
Hopefully later vignettes work better or are more interesting. Production values seem different, I'll try to look harder at the clips on Friday night's replay, if I can. |

[ QUOTE ] Anyway, I'm writing and producing all of these segments, so check them out and let me know what you think! [/ QUOTE ] No offense, Dom, but these are painful to watch. Cornball factor is off the charts. Was hoping they'd get better since this week was pre-recorded, but so far you're not close to bringing the 'best Vegas has to offer'. [/ QUOTE ] it's supposed to be cheesy. My client, GSN loves it. That's all I care about it. Sorry you don't like it. |

So he's not going anywhere. I do agree with you that the first live show was not great - but since we were live and locked to one location, there wasn't a whole lot we could do. Yes, I know we were cut off at times - blame New York for not cuing us properly. The show will not be about poker - it's more about Las Vegas and just having fun. Next week we're at Revolution and Love, at the Mirage. If you don't like it, you don't like it. Not much I can do about that. It's supposed to be goofy and silly and a quick 90 seconds that's all! But I appreciate the feedback and I would never take it personally. |

Personally, I found this weeks segments to be way better. The sound was better and was directed in a more coherent way (way easier when not live, of course). And doofusboy didn't dance. Glad you have a client that likes it. No need to be defensive. But weren't you in the porn biz for awhile? This sounds way less interesting. |

Okay, during the three hours that HSP is on tonight (re-run, HSP Season 3, re-run) there's something called Vegas Night that will be running as interstitials in-between the commercials and HSP. Sort of like "Dinner & a Movie" on TBS. Tongiht, we go LIVE in front of The Venetian in Las Vegas. And for the next 13 weeks (the entire run of HSP 3) Vegas Night will be bringing you all the best that Vegas has to offer - in 30 and 60 second segments! It has two great hosts, including a hot chick: ![]() Kristin Holt Anyway, I'm writing and producing all of these segments, so check them out and let me know what you think! [/ QUOTE ] LOL I would be embarased to announce that I was involved with that crap you call a show, Its so lame. Jokes suck. Worst 30 seconds on TV. My friends and I cant stand either of the hosts let alone the lame writing. Get a new concept. |
