I don't like either CR. You are making the pot way too big with just 1 pair, and a marginal pair at that.

[ QUOTE ]
Personally I'd call with JJ-KK all day here w/o reads. [/ QUOTE ] Right, but i'm not making this move against you. This dude is not a very good player, and likely will just think "oh snap an ace got there and he checkraised, my KK-JJ can't be good". [ QUOTE ] why did you c/r flop? [/ QUOTE ] I think c/r flop or c/c or lead out are all viable here, but he's a weak-loose opponent so i went for the c/r. i didn't think as much about that, but i'm certainly open to opinions on a better flop play (and why). Not the least part of a flop c/r is considering play on the later streets oop, i'd just as soon end this now if he's got overcards. [ QUOTE ] also, are you still c/r-ing turn if he bets something like 175? [/ QUOTE ] oh hellll no, because then he won't fold to my push. his turn bet and the stack sizes are obviously pretty good for this move, the way it played out. [ QUOTE ] Im pretty sure he has an ace here a lot. I was right, wasn't I? [/ QUOTE ] seriously? i think his range is very strongly skewed towards medium-high pocket pairs. Very few aces make any sense here, except maybe A4/A5, and as dust mentioned, those may well fold here too. I'm representing a hand that can beat KK, and basically all of those beat A4/A5 too. Keep in mind that a) i could easily play a set like this against many opponents b) i could have 45s here for the turned nuts. |

aejones- most of your post makes sense except for
[ QUOTE ] I'd much much rather do it with 34, or something like that. [/ QUOTE ] when he bets the turn, we're either folding or pushing, right? so what difference does like 10% equity or whatever the gs+questionable trips gives us make with 34? the major equity comes from a fold. |

Assuming he calls us with a big one pair hand I'd rather have 9 outs than 2 outs, because if I get called more often I win more often, thats all.

eh I don't like too much. But prolly my personal experiences with check raising flop and turn and losing too much. Maybe I pick my spots bad.

[/ QUOTE ] thats all well and good, but c/r this flop with 43? meh. [/ QUOTE ] I was primarily talking about by the turn, since we went from kinda on a bluff to completely on a bluff. Although on the flop, the check raise value of 34 vs the checkraise value of 99 is really similar IMO. Either way, you end up with a one pair hand that is likely not ahead if called (I do agree he will show up with 88 here sometimes, and 78 or something). But those one pair hands that 99 beats and 34 doesn't we should have tons of FE against on the turn, correct? |
