Re: Could the loss of U.S. fish cause online professionals to go broke
Those that cannot deposit will cause all of you to lose.
Online poker is on the brink of extinction. Time for you to find another job.... |

The overall skill has improved.
Because you have so many books out right now and so many online sites which teach you how to play it's harder to beat the same players who obviously improved by now. Too many are playing by a book now. |

Re: Could the loss of U.S. fish cause online professionals to go broke
Well if an 6-8 tabler grinder at the 200's on the softer pre-Frist sites could make a steady 3PTBB/100 and top it up with RB worth another 1.5PTBB/100 that would have been
worth c.$100/hr. You can well imagine that turning to Stars and FTP he finds he can't even beat the $200's games any more and is just above breakeven in the $100's. Also his RB is now stuck at 30% or below as opposed to 50% before. He might struggle to make $40/hr now even if his ego lets him move down. If it doesn't he will bust. There are probably a lot of players who that has happened to. |

Now 100K US is 100K Canadian, I took a 40% paycut right there alone |

Maybe with bonuses and rake back or Stars gift certificate. But that would be a million tables. The games even at that limit are very tight(weak tight and predictable), but that's like pulling teeth or dumpster diving if you are accustomed to higher games.

Re: Could the loss of U.S. fish cause online professionals to go broke
Definitely. I'm a decent player, and I can barely beat the $200NL on absolute or poker stars, and can't beat anything higher than that. I pretty much have to go to Atlantic City now to make any money.

Re: Could the loss of U.S. fish cause online professionals to go broke
The games are still beatable. Reading a book and then applying it is another story.
There are so many variables into being a winning player, theat there will always be an edge. Yes, the games might have gotten tougher but there will always be people who are beating the games through hard work, dedication, etc. Those who arent willing to improve, will not. Personally, I think in a couple years when all of this legal stuff blows over and people are able to deposit with ease, all of us who took the time to learn the game, will be very glad we stayed the course. When there is this much money involved, things just dont disappear. If the govt wanted to completely ban online poker, it would have been done already. |
