The boardwalk casinos are much more comparable to the Fremont/downtown Vegas casinos. They are 'real' AC, which is not always a compliment.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not really.

I'd say the boardwalk properties are more akin to the Strip properties not named Venetian, Bellagio or Wynn (and maybe 1 or 2 others). The boardwalk casinos are still plenty nice, but Borgata is indeed in a different, higher class.

You will find some nicer beaches a short drive north or south. Ocean City has some nice beaches and a nice boardwalk and is only a few miles south.

Get a White House Special, it's a helluva a hoagie.

Find some place to get a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. So good and so Jersey.

Salt water taffy. You should have no problem at all finding this.

I second Mike's recommendation for the White House. Best bread ever.

That's Formica Bakery bread, it's made a few blocks away and used by every decent sub shop in the area. Only place in the world you can get it. I always recommend Los Amigos for food because no one else does.

If you're going to stay in a casino, stay in one in the city area itself rather than the Borgata which is in the Marina district. You can walk right out the front of the strip casinos and be on the boardwalk.

Upscale food: the Palm without a doubt @ Tropicana. Flawless out of the 5 or 6 times I've been there, although pricey.

Once of these dyas we ought to make a Visitors Guide to AC for 2+2ers/

Hi Gonso,

Have you ever eaten the pizza from Formica Bakery?
Fantastic stuff. Pizza like it was meant to be. Kind of like foccaccia bread.

Why no love for the Trop tourneys? If you want a low limit donkfest that plays sort of deep, try the Sunday night double stack. 10k on the 5k structure for 80+20, which is pretty good if you don't mind antes (and I know I prefer them).

[ QUOTE ]
www.78suited.com also has a good amount of AC info

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but it's outdated. acpokerguide is actually better now. They also have links to structure listings for almost every tourney.

Grew up right there on Florida Ave.

To OP: Set up your base of operations at a midtown boardwalk casino and you're walking distance (or a $2 jitney ride) to everything you want. You can still get to Borgata easy enough to check it out, especially if you have your car. Plus it's cheaper.

For traveling between casinos you can always park at Showboat or Harrah's for free and take their free shuttle that goes between their midtown casinos (Bally's/Caesar's, uptown casino (Showboat), or marina (Harrah's).

That will get you close enough to anywhere you want to be except for the Borgata and Tropicana. That's probably 20 minute walk from midtown

Showboat has free parking? I'll remember that when I go to Taj. Do they have a parking fee booth? Is it free when you flash their casino card or something?

Yes. You need to get a card.

Thanks for all the replies and discussion, it's very helpful. I'm leaning towards staying at the Tropicana now, it sounds like a nice hotel with a variety of restaurants and good poker room. How far of a walk is it down the boardwalk to say the Taj Mahal?

Don, the Taj has to be at least a mile or so from the Trop and probably a little further. It's kind of a long walk in the winter, not as bad in the summer.

Trop and Taj are on opposite sides of the boardwalk. reference the pic in an earlier post in this thread. A nice leisurely walk from one to the other will take a good 20-30 minutes.
