Re: Weekend of October 12 games and last week\'s report
[ QUOTE ]
I'm a new Illinois player (just south of the state line by the Lake). No live experience to speak of, but I'd like to try it. So what limits do the spread, and what buy-in tournaments do they have? [/ QUOTE ] They do not have tournaments as far as I know. Not regularly anyway. They usually have 2-3 tables of 3/5NL going with an assortment of 2/4 and 3/6 limit as well. I think there is normally a 5/10 game, but it doesn't run 24/7( ??) For any of the bigger games they spread (10/20, 15/30, 20/40) they will have them on certain days. the 15/30 usually runs Tuesdays I believe, with a 20/40 sometimes on Saturdays... Maybe the poster thedorf can fill you in on those, he seems to be the resident expert on the higher limit games at The Pot... they run a 5/10 hi/lo omaha game on wednesday I believe. They also have 1-5 seven card stud usually running 24/7 (??) they used to anyway.. I heard about a round by round pot limit omaha hi / pot limit hold 'em game. I think it might be a friday night deal.. anyone know the details on that? benny |

[/ QUOTE ] NL HE $3/$5 - can't remember buy-in I think $300-$600. Limit HE $2/$4 $3/$6 $4/$8 $6/$12 $10/$20 sometimes $20/$40 sometimes All the games 6/12 and below are pretty much filled with clueless retards. A decent understanding of SSHE will allow you to do well in those games. Play $2/$4 on a weekend night if you want some 8 players to a flop action. Limit o/8 $5/$10 with kill on Wed/Thu $3/$6 with no kill on Sat Neither of these games are tough by any means, the hands per hour are just so low that if your good hands don't hold up it can take a long time to reverse a downswing. PLO Round by round (HE Omaha) when requested. Dealer said $5/$5 blinds and $500-no max buy-in. Stud $1-$5 I think? Tournaments They had one when they first opened and one in August. The one in August was "invite only" for players who had accumulated the most hours in the room. $200 buy-in, 150 players, $40K payout so $10K was added. Last months "ANTE" magazine said stayed tuned to their website (paysbig.com) for more tournament listings. |

Re: Weekend of October 12 games and last week\'s report
Thanks to both for the info.
Like I said, I'm new, so I'm not sure I wouldn't act like a clueless retard just often enough to make the session a losing one. Plus money's a little tight, so unless I get better fast and get staked I probably won't make it up there til next year at the soonest. (Those low-level NLHE tables sound temping, though.) With that said, a couple more questions (if you feel like answering). When I do go there, what's the best time to arrive on Saturday? According to their site the poker room is by the bingo hall, which has a snack bar with hot dogs etc. Is that worthwhile or should I hit the buffet instead? |

[/ QUOTE ] If I were you I would buy-in for the max at the NLHE table. The game plays pretty loose so having a few buy-ins is nice. So if money is tight, I don't know if that is your game. I can't afford to play that high all the time myself, but I take shots every now and then (when I can afford it). I don't normally go on Saturdays, I would imagine its busy all day though. If you go, call 414-847-7605. It's the Poker room's number. You can put your name on the list for up to 2 hours before showing up. If you're going to eat at the snack bar, go to the one that is a little farther away from the poker room past the bingo caller (the guy who reads the balls). It has a bigger selection of food. Burgers and stuff. benny |

Re: Weekend of October 12 games and last week\'s report
I have nothing against Potatwatomie Casino. If they choose to hire a bunch of unemployed skinheads and klansmen to run their poker room, it's their joint. The drift of many of my threads would better defined as ANTI-CASINO. I like poker, but I really don't care for legalized gaming corporations, which have struck an "unholy alliance" with politicians nationwide, to ripoff the public. You have to go into a casino to play poker, in most jurisdictions. A person who bets the horses, can go to the track. No legal poker, except in the slot barnes.
[ QUOTE ] Because he has some grudge against the Pot. Ive been following his posts for years and that's pretty obvious so hopefully nothing he says influences anyone's opinion of whether this is a worthy thread or not. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Weekend of October 12 games and last week\'s report
The firepit sports bar downstairs has good burgers + fries for about $8 and they're open 24/7 for food on weekends. You can get it to go and take it up to the bingo hall to eat if you don't want to sit at the bar. Or if you eat before 4pm you can get the "Buffet To Go" which is $4.99 lb. and probably the best deal in the casino. At $3.75ish for 3/4 lb of butterfly shrimp you can't go wrong.
