Re: *** Official October Chat Thread: The Purple Goose ***
That's not sick at all GM. Yea, I said I didn't care until it hit 10k, I meant 20k. Your downswing isn't sick until you lose 20k.

Re: *** Official October Chat Thread: The Purple Goose ***
Unfortunately, my recent graph looks a lot like GMs.
I have a question for those that understand the Poker EV program. Does the Net Run # represent my variation from expected earnings? |

Re: *** Official October Chat Thread: The Purple Goose ***
An excerpt from leatherass' blog i liked. Might help some people downswinging or unhappy with thier month/year.
[ QUOTE ] But getting back to this month. My hope is that things can resume to normality at the tables. Poker is obviously a swingy game but this is a bit crazy. I was looking at my graph today and I counted 17 $8k or more downswings. Last month I had 4. So that’s 13 extra opportunities to become a super tilt monkey…lol. This month has really been just a complete disaster at the tables. But I play so many hands in a year that something like this has a decent chance of happening at some point during the year. Unfortunately this year I have had probably 3 of these 100k hand disaster spells. My friend Rob (Lasnyfriend) put it to me this way. The chances of what has happened to me a few separate times this year is like the same as pulling an ace from a deck of cards. The chances aren’t very good you will draw an ace, but sometimes you will. Now this year I have drawn like 3 aces from the deck. Some of my friends have played tons of poker over the years and have been fortunate enough to avoid pulling the ace. But for those that are avoiding the ace, there are going to be those that draw it a few times more than they should. Unfortunately I happened to be that guy this year. Maybe next year or even the next couple of years, I can avoid drawing the ace. Boy wouldn’t that be nice! When I run badly it really does make me a little crazy. I think what it is is that I HAVE to play all of this poker to get elite. But, I really really enjoy poker so that isn’t a big deal to me. But, I #$#@%#@& hate playing poker if the poker Gods are just going to suck all of the skill out of the game and just deal me a bunch of coolers and deliver endless bad beats. So pretty much about half of the time I log on these days it is, to use my friend Rob’s words, Rope time! And that just isn’t a whole lot of fun to endure. I can think of about 8 billion things I’d rather be doing then having some A hole suck out on me for $5,000 and type “ship it” or “your AA no good fool” into the chat. That has been the story of my month. In fact if you throw out my 3 best days of the month, I am down $55k for the other 21 days. It is just sick. Think about that. I have played tens of thousands of hands of top notch poker over those 21 days. And the end result is me losing 2 years of mortgage payments…lol. SWEET!!!! Let me tell you there is some variance in this game. Despite what you read from the rest of our fellow instructors, not everyone is on a perma life heater…lol. I mean more power to them. They are all obviously some of the top players in the world. But I don’t think any of them have pulled any aces out of the deck if you know what I mean. But at the same time it’s all just a math game. Starting tomorrow, I could just as easily run very well for the next million or so hands and they might pull a few aces. Then I’ll be opening up their blogs and reading about what luck box I am and how I never run bad….hahahhaa. This game is pretty funny at times. I swear it will make you crazy. My hope is that nobody I know ever pulls any aces. I would love to hear from all of my poker buddies about how hot they are running. When I read Bryce or Stox’s or Cotton’s blog I think it’s awesome to see them doing so well. It’s very encouraging. Nice work guys! [/ QUOTE ] http://www.stoxpoker.com/poker-blogs/leatherass |

Finally done with today. God I hated today. At least I got a couple more guys to add to the AHK buddy list. Plus I broke $2,000 BR for the first time since June
