I don't mind a check, but I prefer the 1/2 pot bet. No pair is folding and it looks weak enought to provoke a raise out of some people.

I then check the turn and get another (bigger) bet in on the River, since my play screams of a missed AK.

If I check and fire at the turn, I likely only get one street of value out of middle pairs. I also, of course, miss the opportunity of getting C/R on the flop by JJ/QQ (which is one reason I'm betting).
