As a Yankee fan, I wouldn't make the Yankees a favorite in the ALDS against the Angels (assuming LAA has home field)...

however, assuming the current state of the Saux (Manny, Dice-K, relievers, etc.) continues through to a Yankee/Boston ALCS, Yankees would be favored slightly -- even without home field. How could it be otherwise?

Just because the Vegas line is -155 doesn't mean it's the true line.

People have made millions fading the Yankees.

This is true, but regardless, no way the ALCS line would be -155 vs BOS. I know the books don't really want a balanced line, but they would get clobbered with that line. Sure the NYY fans would be on that line, but the BOS fans and sharps would make that so off balanced.

The Yankees are a pretty awesome team though, and this is a series not a game.

Yeah, i didn't think about awesomeness factor, which is why I cannot ever win at sports betting. I am guessing the line is a steal at -155 and I will bet it as soon as it comes out before it hits -170 and then bet the OVER every single game. Ahhh, favorites and overs, the quickest way to richness.

that pitcher of the big hurt is kinda irritating. We can all use that in our meditation practice. what is it about that pitcher that causes us to be upset. At a fundamental level, it is a sight object, impermanent, not worth clinging too. Yet our habitual reactions and attachment cause us to get carried away, we attach significance to that picture based on our past conditions, our karma. it will all fade. fade like the yankees of last century. fade like a 3-0 series lead, fade like a-rod in October.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know people pronounce it pitcher, I just didn't think people spelled it that way too. Neat.

now you're leveling, right? I'm a bad speller, too, but pitcher vs. picture? c'mon. You can't be serious.

I asked the sharpest oddsmaker in Las Vegas what he would make the price on an ALCS between NYY and BOS, assuming all players were healthy, and BOS had home-ice.

He said simply, "Yankees -155".

[/ QUOTE ]

That line seems a little high (and it probably is because they up the price on Yankees games, right?), but it's pretty close IMO. -140 sounds about right.

We pretty much need Anaheim to take them out or else we're not winning the pennant.
