Re: August Low-Content Thread
Made five racks in the 40 today but posting here mostly to remind myself not to play bad because play bad I did. It probably feels worse than it was because all were close decisions but I just read peope so incorrectly it hurts:
I folded AA on a Q84r flop, QQ on a T44r flop, and QJ on a J33 flop where there where eight big bets before the flop (I was convinced I was drawing to one out for a chop fwiw). Anyways, all three of these hands were good and in reality the only one that was completely unacceptable was the QQ one, the AA was a clear laydown and the QJ was probably close and only so because of the enormous size of the pot, there was really no way I ever should have been good. Also, my first ever Iris encounter today and I had no idea who she was. After one particularly bad player leaves the table, Iris, who had aready established herself as the most despicable human being on the planet, starts ranting about this player, "MISTER 6-5 OFFSUIT," and how horrible he is. I say to Iris, "Do you always talk badly about people as soon as they get up from the game?" Iris answers yes, I repeat myself, and she confirms. So I get up from the table and ask the guy next to me to report back what Iris says. I come back to learn that Iris had called me "Barbara." (For those who don't know me, I'm very small, have slightly long hair and look more feminine than masculine.) I'll leave you to examine the implications of a woman insulting my masculinity by giving me a woman's name. Nice to meet you, Iris. -Michael |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Thanks for the Iris story, Michael. I think she actually likes me for some reason, although I guess I should ask people what she says when I get up.
She's got a pretty interesting tell, FWIW. When she has a big hand, she bunches up her lips and gets very quiet. When she's drawing, her face is relaxed. It's quite pronounced if you look for it. A few days ago vs our Gabe, Iris raised PF and got a couple of callers, including Gabe in the BB. The flop was something like Q high with two hearts, Gabe donks, Iris raises and makes the face, Gabe calls. Turn blank, Gabe checks, Iris face bets, Gabe calls. River heart, Gabe donks, I practically burst out laughing, Iris calls, Gabe wins the monies with a flush. Good times, good times. |

Nope, may go today though.. Im now 0/2 with smaller casinos. 30/60 at hawaiian gardens was a rock garden. Only good part was when it got shorthanded for a few rings and I stole a bunch of blinds. [/ QUOTE ] HG is typically a rock garden but HP usually has good action. |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Sorry to clog up the LC thread, but I need to do a FTP-->Stars transfer for $200 and I don't trust the IG topics. Reputable posters PM me please.
Thanks in advance. |

"OMFG, stop it you are killing me.
Details on the AA and QQ laydows please." No. But I'd bet $100 that if I post the AA hand in a few months everyone will say to fold. Or, more realistically, that you'll say to fold. -Michael |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Went to the Commerce on Thursday night for the first time ever. While my friends were out looking for celebrities, I was hoping to run into Pokerbob, Howmany, Private Joker, Death Donkey, Joe Tall, etc. It's amazing how my perspective has changed. I didn't run into any of them or I don't think I did.
I sat in a 40-80 game for the first time ever after playing some 20-40. I am pretty sure there were zero 2+2ers in my game yet I was still completely lost at times with the seemingly mindless agression. I think there was only one person I thought was 2+2 (at least of the younger generation) that I played against in either game, but I only played about 10 hands with him before I was moved to a different 20 table. Conclusion: The Commerce is the best room ever, however, I only made money because of this 3 outter. I get QJs in the sb. UTG raises, 3 calls, I complete, BB completes. Flop: QQx checks to UTG who bets, 2 calls, I checkraise, BB folds, UTG 3 bets, all fold to me, I call. Turn: J I c/r, UTG calls. River: x I bet, she calls and she shows QK. I like being lucky. |
