What type of odds would be fair in making a bet that we will sweep three sports (Sox, Celts, Pats) winning championships this year in each?

Obviously they will have to be pretty big, some sportsbook should put this up, as I'd love to throw some money away on it.

Celtics have maybe a 10% chance.

Red Sox 20 - 25%

Pats 20% ?

so the odds of all 3 are like 200-1

but no book would give you odds that "good". you would have to bet 50-1 or something stupid.

I love the optimism. I'll give you football and baseball they should be favorites but the AL is tough and variance is of course ultra high in the baseball playoffs. NBA, I'm betting the winner comes out of the West next year. Boston should compete, but I would have a problem favoring them over Phoenix, SA or Dallas next season. They do have a good/great big 3, but so does PHX and SA. SA and PHX have arguably better 4-15 though.

I can't speak to the other sports, but Boston is +376 on the WSEX market to win the World Series.

Wow Bodog odds are [censored] but what I found there was:

Sox 3:1
Celtics 5:1
Patriots 8:5

Comes out to 24:1 and they'd probably even cut it down to like 20:1 or lower to take that bet.

True odds are prob more like:

Sox 15%
Celtics 8%
Patriots 20%

So around 400:1

I'd love to hear the case for Garnett/Pierce/Allen over Bird/Chief/McHale.

Yeah me too, that's what I meant by "no way to bias the poll" cause to me it's pretty much a no-brainer and not that close.

I would NOT take KG/Pierce/Allen over them, but the best case I could come up with would involve the following arguments:

1. Athletes are much better today, so stars of today are simply better than stars of 20 years ago

2. Bird/Chief/McHale always had great talent around them. This helped put them in a position to showcase their talents and hide their weaknesses. The other three have not had that until now.

Yeah thats about all I got....

Open Letter to Celts Fans -

I don't really read this forum and I'm grunching this thread. I just want to say: Take care of him. Treat him well. You're going to love him. No one on the court has a bigger heart. And in the decade+ he was here, there was not one single negative story about his off-the-court life. Yeah, he's a little past his peak, but I'll be damned if he wasn't the best thing that ever happened to me. His intensity can ignite an arena, and his smile can light up a room. He's going to steal your heart, and you'll wonder how you ever got on without him.

I miss him already.

[/single tear on cheek]

Yours,
A lonely ex-Wolves fan

P.S. If I drunk-dial him late one January night, please forgive me.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.
If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Cardinals won last year. Baseball probally has the highest variance of any 5/7 game type playoff. I think Boston should be the favorite but who knows. They have the best starting pitching staff, best relief staff and a very good offensive unit.
