Lol inflation at 2%. Bernanke you lying sack of [censored]. "Maintaining price stability". Why doesn't he just call it what it is, robbing people? In a growing economy of increasing productivity, prices would *fall*, making everyone more wealthy over time. But by inflating away the value of the dollar to supposedly maintain "price stability" (which is a crock, price inflation is raging right now), people are robbed of that gain. Coupled with the fact that prices are nowhere near stable, they are inflating rapidly, and you realize that the poor and middle class are being totally raped by Fed policy.

[/ QUOTE ] Bernanke is full of it. his answer implies the economy was healthy enough for a rate cut. If that was the case then why didnt they cut rates before this market tourmoil started but was expected? because they couldnt stop talking about inflation risks. The markets suffers problems and suddenly a bailout follows, yet this was somehow already justified since inflation was low? Further he does and shouldve expressed his knowledge of the problems of pricing inflation in terms of CPI and less so for core. Does Bernanke really think the rate drop would effect the CPI within a day of this happening? Ron Paul was indicating what is to be expected as the new credit disseminates through the economy and past issues continue to catch up. When the fed chairs give such obviously retarded answers one really is forced to question their integrity, honesty and overall evil-ness.
