not going to make a thread for this since i am sure someone will sooner or later, but... How sad it is that two greats like Ripkin and Gwynn have to get listed on the same HOF ballot as that loser McGwire. [/ QUOTE ] personally, with his .263 career avg and 5 hall of fame seasons, he would not be a first ballot hall of famer without the steroid controversy imo |

Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
Kennedy's recent past performance is better than Derosa's...however, there are factors which suggest that Derosa's future performance will be better than Kennedy's, which I listed before.
Still, wouldn't bet three million bucks on it like the Cubs are.. |

He's one of the best players of all time at his position; career .394 OBP and .588 Slug %, giving him the 13th highest OPS of all time out of all players. His adjusted OPS+ is tied for 11th of all time with Jimmie Foxx, generally considered one of the two best 1b of all time. He had a better career than half of the 1B in the hall right now. |

did the Cubs bid? [/ QUOTE ] They were planning on it, but according to the NY Times, the Mets had the 2nd highest bid with 15-19 mil$, so they weren't close if they did bid. |

Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
Orioles sign Chad Bradford to a 3 year, 10.5 million dollar deal.
So, they spent 41.5 million over three years on 3 mediocre to above average middle relievers...what exactly went on in the Orioles upper management meetings this year? "We can't compete with the Red Sox and Yankees unless we have the best bullpen in the world!" "But, sir! If we spend all of our money in the bullpen our rotation and offense will still be poor! We won't have any leads for them to protect!" "I will not tolerate thinking in this office. You're fired!" |

And even i did not think he was worth 3 years |
