How does one have a lower OBP than BA? Sac flies?

[/ QUOTE ]

Right. Sac flies count against OBP but not BA. So if (BB+HBP)/(BB+HBP+SF)<BA, OBP will also be < BA.

In other words, you need a lot of sac flies and not a lot of walks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Isn't it just if SF>BB+HBP?

Philadelphia is going on 94 consecutive sports seasons without a championship.
Cleveland is going on 118 consecutive sports seasons without a championship.

[/ QUOTE ]

Damn, 118 sports-seasons is really glaring considering they only have 3 of the 4 major sports (I'm assuming you are only counting "the big 4").

[/ QUOTE ]

Recently the Phillies lost their 10,000th game. I believe that is the most of any franchise in any sport in history. Hard to imagine a non-baseball team holding that record, so I won't bother to look it up.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey, be fair, the Washington Generals have lost at least 13,000.

Yeah, the stat doesn't include non-American blacks like Pedro, Sosa, and Tejada. So the 10% figure refers only to guys like C.C. Sabathia and Willie Harris.

The decline probably has most to do with the rise of basketball in the inner cities and the ability to get good contracts quickly.

[/ QUOTE ]

Also the lack of baseball diamonds in urban areas.

Barry Bonds career .EQA - over 22 seasons - is higher than David Ortiz's best season ever. by a lot.

[/ QUOTE ]

David Ortiz? That's nothing. Bonds's career EQA is better than Willie Mays highest season. Stan Musial, Joe DiMaggio, Hank Aaron, and Ty Cobb each only had one season with a better EQA than Bonds's career.

News flash: Barry Bonds is an all-time great.

lol, that's awesome.

Lawyer: "Krusty, you bet on the Generals to WIN?"
Krusty: "Ohhh! I thought they were due! Steal the ball! He's just twirling it on his finger, c'mon!"

No. If someone has 100 BB, 10 HBP and 120 SF that component of his OBP is .478. Unless his BA is higher than that it's going to raise his total OBP.

A random sports fact that Bob Feller just stated about himself on ESPN Wednesday night baseball:

When asked how hard he threw in his prime, he said seriously 102-104 touching 107.

On August 14, 1958 Vic Power stole home in the 8th and 10th inning to help his team tie and then win the game 10-9 in extra innings. Whats remarkable about the feat is that during the entire rest of the season he only had one steal(of any base).
