Chipper Jones a HOFer???? I just don't seem him as one this thread sees him as a lock, but the last 5 yrs of guys who have been inducted I don't see as HOFers either, I guess I just have higher standards. It's not just a Braves biased, Gary Carter being in the HOF is silly.

You don't see many things the way Braves fans or any rational person sees things. This is a common thing with you BOFan.

Don't overthink things. He's the best 3B of his generation, the offensive face of the Braves teams, and the best switch hitter since Mantle.

[/ QUOTE ]

Didn't Eddie Murray have better numbers?

No, Murray's prime is comparable to Chipper's.

I'd like to see you make a case against Carter. He was consistently one of the better hitters in the league as a catcher, and he was no slouch defensively.

Also, I'm wondering which other of the guys elected in the past 5 years don't deserve to go in. Ripken, Gwynn, Boggs, Sandberg, Sutter, Molitor, Ecksley?

Just for the hell of it - and because I really don't want to work - I'm posting their numbers from the ages of 23-33.

Eddie Murphy ages 23-33
BA: 295, 300, 294, 316, 306, 306, 297, 305, 277, 284
HR: 25, 32, 22, 32, 33, 29, 31, 17, 30, 28
RBI: 99, 116, 78, 110, 111, 110, 124, 84, 91

Chipper Jones ages 23-33
BA: 265, 309, 295, 313, 319, 311, 330, 327, 305, 248
HR: 23, 30, 21, 34, 45, 36, 38, 26, 27, 30
RBI: 86, 110, 111, 108, 110, 111, 102, 109, 106, 96

I post this just because of the other comment about their ages. I actually think that they're pretty similar, especially if you consider the fact that there was less offense in Murray's era.
