What? The bank doesn't have any incentive to make sure you can pay back your loan? If the mortgaged property gets blown away by *whatever*, whether it's a tornado or a terrorist, the bank still needs assurance that their investment will not be lost.

I read them, and I saw some handwaving, but no explanation. Banks magically don't care about the safety of their investments because some guy next door doesn't care if his house burns down?
