Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
I hope that trade doesn't go down. I am not sure why the Angels would trade for Crede, he definitely does not qualify as the "big bat" they were looking for.
Angels management is having the worst offseason this year by far. How hard is it to make the Cubs look good? |

[/ QUOTE ] I was initially going to say that the Cubs are doing much worse, but then I realized at least they signed Soriano and Ramirez who will hit home runs and be well above-average with the stick. Matthews is just embarassing and indefensible. The Angels allow him to clear waivers and go to various teams for 6 years, then when he has a good year, decide to sign him for 5/50? Sickeningly bad. |

Someone just emailed me something saying the Cubs were offering Schmidt $45 mil over 3 years..? This is the first I've heard of it, is this true?? [/ QUOTE ] If the Cubs just go one more year they have him...I'd rather see this than 9-10 mil for a league average pitcher; and, they still haven't quite spent themselves to the top of a weak NL. |

Didn't see this posted anywhere but: The Hanshin Tigers have accepted the top bid -- believed to be about $25 million -- for left-handed pitcher Kei Igawa, SI.com has learned. [/ QUOTE ] Yankees have the top bid, per NY radio station. |
