LOL @ my 25 buyin "downswing" + 55k breakeven Look, I don't want to come across as a defensive dick, I just want to make the point that a different style / approach to the game can lead to some very different numbers. |

Re: SSNL [cheese] thread: NOV 2007 (nc)
this is true for sure. w$wsf is very interesting and certainly worth attention, but it's not the be all, end all. the biggest lagfish have ultra-high w$wsf numbers and they lose 15 ptbb/100.
really, the only stat that matters is win rate (and it's only telling over a huge sample). it's possible to crush without a monster w$wsf. i don't doubt that his numbers are sustainable. fwiw, my wtsd/w$sd over my last 100,000 hands or so are 24.3/55.5. it's impossible to say, obviously, but i don't suspect that i've run better than mediocre over this stretch. |

[/ QUOTE ] lagfish/overaggro tag is blindly aggressive and doesn't respect bets/raises. you raise preflop and check-fold the flop. lagfish/overaggro tag is blindly aggressive and doesn't respect bets/raises. you raise preflop and hit the flop hard. you bet the flop, he calls. you check-call turn and river. the result is that you don't win many pots, but when you lose, the pot's small, and when you win, the pot's big. your total aggression isn't as high as some players' and you go to showdown a lot. and your win rate is good. this is oversimplification, obviously, but aggression isn't the best option 100% of the time. |
