not that it made any difference as to who won or lost, but it was clearly a homerun. anyone with a basic knowledge of physics knows this. a ball does not bounce up when it hits a horizontal surface on its way down.

when it happened i was like "wtf thats SOOOOO obvious" then people were like "it wasnt a HR here are the rules" that coupled with the idiots in the booth not even discussing it made me back off my initial assesment. i was like it was so obvious that they couldn't get it wrong unless there was a specific reason.

It wasn't just that they weren't really talking about the missed call, but that McCarver was so outraged about Manny only being on 1st. He was seriously acting as if it was an atrocity. I am not saying Manny shouldn't have 'hustled' down to 1st, but like the above article stated, he should have been in the dugout. Plus, they were so accepting of the call being correct. No rules looked up, no discussion of the 'shelf' (why is that there?), etc... They were actually hard on Manny all night (minus Joe Buck's obligatory 'he works hard' comments).

Buck and McCarver are both awful and hate on the Sox...I don't see the surprise in their handling of the situation

Uh, it is an atrocity that Manny was only on first. Whether it was a home run or not, it was obviously far too close to celebrate. Completely pathetic that the bases weren't ran.

Manny wasn't celebrating on that one. He thought he popped up for an out.
