Being as he can't rule out some dangerous hands on your part like 99 or AhKh I don't know why he is minraising and that makes it hard to put him on a hand, but the minraise is weirder for a draw than a made hand isn't it? and I don't see this being anything you crush except maybe JJ. Seems like a really crazy spot for him to be just bluffing. I'm not necessarily saying fold, but I can certainly see why you aren't happy. |

Re: $25NL, flop str8
In my experience the min-raise in this spot is more often a big made hand like a set or 2-pair than it is a draw or something like AT.

I'm doing ok with the transition mostly because of this thread, aim buddies, and a good coach, but I'm still going to send you a pm because I would love to hear some of your insight about the experience because I still have a long way to go. |

Re: $25NL, flop str8
All min raises are not created equal.
In a single raise pot a min raised of my $22 cbet is to $44. Not a significant risk. In this pot, his min raise is obv a much larger amount. |

Results:
I thought for a second, re-evaluated stack sizes, and figured with the size of the pot and the texture of the flop, my equity was good enough to shove. So, that's what I did. He snap called and QQ>KJhh. I ran poker stove on this and unless his range is only sets, 2pr and straights, I'm better than the 31% equity I need for shoving to be correct. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think this is the key - the overlay is just too big to fold here. However, your point about not being that far ahead of stuff like KJh and T9 in an equity sense is important and people should pay attention to this. |

Re: $25NL, flop str8
Not a lot of hands on anyone at the table, but so far the raiser had not been involved in many pots, and the caller had been in most pots.
This is really a question about stack sizes, if I want to raise here - how much. Putting shorty all in commits 1/2 of the callers stack, and notice the stacks behind me also, $6 and $12. Basically if I re-raise preflop - I'm not folding to anyone after that, should I just put them all in now? or is calling with position better? Raise for value - if MP2 likes to see flops, make him pay. There's no need to worry about putting them both in preflop, just make a pot sized raise and never fold postflop v. stacks this short. |
