I don't really get why you bet the turn unless you knew he was capable of floating the turn and bluffing the river, or calling two streets with less than TT. There are some plausible hands that you're beating left from his BB calling range like 99-55. He also knows there's a lot of hands in your range, like JJ-55, that his QJ is beating and might look him up. Overall, I don't see why the pot has to be that big on the river. It's a much less stressful decision if it's $51 instead of $95. |

However, with your read I think re-popping it on the flop is a good line as well. Since he raised UTG his range includes hands like TT,JJ,QQ that he's probably willing to get it in with on the flop but scare cards could come and slow him down. He might also be willing to continue with something like AK or AQ if he feels like you're making a move on him on this relatively dry flop. |

Re: just lost 17 buyins to one guy at HU
I think the 54o hand you probably shoved river, w/o putting him on a hand and w/o considering why is he still with you after all the betting you've been doing and asking yourself "can this paired river card help him". Don't worry, I would have played the same as you b/c I often act before I think.
I think that you should have dumped the JT hand once he raised you on the flop, afterall he raised pf, bet and raised the flop and you really don't have a hand. The JJ hand just sucks, but you played it fine, IMO. |

Sometimes you fold the winning hand, but you staying with him basically only wins if he is bluffing. |

Re: $25NL, flop str8
I agree he probably has an ace here. My point is every time I raise a set in these spots, they think forever and fold. Very frustrating. I would think this could possibly used to exploit known weak-tight nits at $1/$2. If I had say AJ in villian's spot, you guys would probably tell me to fold to a scary RR from a 2p2er. I'd be a moron to go broke with TP3K right?
I'm sure I'm overthinking this. |

Re: just lost 17 buyins to one guy at HU
Lacky,
, that's brutal. If it would make you feel better to spend 3 hours beating up on me HU on your way to a championship, please let me know! Suzzer, The TT hand is just odd. I don't think your turn bet accomplishes much, I would check it through or bet more. River, I fold against villain as I remember him (been a while since I played much on stars). The first 22 hand - obviously just fold the flop. It's just such a bad spot with all the draws and your hand that has little value. If you think he's getting out of line, I would pick better spots to play back - spots where the board isn't quite so wet and you stack up better versus his range. Even if he flopped an oesd or a flush draw with no pairs, he's still a favorite on that flop. The second 22 hand - you played it fine. As others said, raising the flop has merit when he likes to stack off with overpairs. In fact, unless you know he's willing to fire a lot of 2nd barrels on a flop like this, raising the flop is probably the best play. Could do some quick math on what % of his range is overpairs and how often he spikes pair on the turn. Also, you should be bluff raising those flops some as well. Karp, The KK hand - get it in on the flop because you're OOP so the turn is a bitch, worse hands will call, draws, etc. Dr J, The broadway hand - what futuredoc said. Pot that flop and keep your foot on the gas. |

Re: just lost 17 buyins to one guy at HU
TT hand,
When someone donks out on that flop I'd weight their range much more towards flush draws than a Q or set. That being said, I still might pot control the turn and snap off a bluff on the river. But, I don't think your line is fine. But, if you bet on the turn I think it's to protect against the flush draw, which makes calling the river kinda mandatory. I'd really expect a c/r at some point with a set, and a smaller river bet (blocking bet) with a Q. |
