When you tell a woman she is beautiful, she feels powerful. GOOD LORD DO NOT SAY THAT TO HER. She might fall into the small percent that would be smitten by such a gesture. But you're an odds on favorite to come off desperate.

Don't say you have to be there because you've got a business meeting with a cow. Just say you're coming up to see another friend, or even the same one. I had several friends at Davis, it's a big school. Not implausible.

How to ask a girl out:

Call her
Hi whats up?
Then something about:
1. the time you met ("lol your roomate was silly drunk...did she really ___________?" <--- Something she didnt do)
2. something you're doing ATM ("lol I need to pick a kind of wine for this party and I'm in the wine store... HALP I dont understand wine!" <--- Chick actually used this on me: gold.)
3. Something funny that happened to you since you saw her ("you are fine? Well I'm going nuts, my car got keyed by some skateboarders/got cut off by a priest driving a hearse/pipes burst and water got into my laptop which now only had chinese characters w/e.)

Then ask her something about her life, her commute, her job, w/e and bs for one subject.
Then say, "Oh, so why don't we have coffee/drinks this ___day?" She goes OK and you go, " how about ____ it's pretty cool." Already know where you should take her.
If that day isnt good have a backup plan AND different place if she rejects first one.
Once you have plans, have one more story/subject lined up (well, I gotta go, Californication is coming on and I MUST watch it. Have you seen that show? No? Did you like X-files? You probably just worship Greys Anatomy huh? LOLOL at you"
then get off the phone.
