If it works that easy, that phone will be a pussy magnet at the bars.

I haven't really been keeping track of the news, and it might be answered in here, but I think I remember reading that each store was only getting 3 units. Any truth to that?

Big cities are getting more of them than the burbs, it will also be available on-line and in Apple stores. AT&T stores are going to be shutting down at 4 and re-opening at 6 and staying open late. Sometime next week AT&T will be announcing the data rate plan, which doesn't bode too well price wise I don't think.

Oh, it will also view Word, Excel, and PDF mail attachements.

I don't think I know ANYONE who doesn't have a smartphone for their personal phone.

You live in a grossly skewed world.

Phew. I'm by no means a Luddite and I don't own a smart phone and never felt a huge need to have one either.

I agree. Among my group of friends who range in age from 20-25, I only know one person out of 20 who has a smartphone. By smartphone i assume you mean some kinda PDA combo thing. Almost all of us have text plans but PDA phones? No way.

PS any way to get this phone on Verizon? I love Verizon and have had terrible experiences with AT&T.

some blogs are reporting that "the iPhone data plan will be around $34.99-$44.99 and feature unlimited data, and either 2000 text messages, or unlimited text messages"

I think this is another big strike against the phone.

Find a cheaper data plan on other carriers, that is pretty much the standard.

I pay $5 month for Verizon Mobile Web access.this pays for hotmail/yahoo/im access as well as web surfing (which admittedly isn't great on the Env, though it is fast b/c it's 3g). the Verizon partner sites work well, but it's mostly text only.

anyway at edge speed, text only sites is really what you should be wanting to use.

being forced to pay $40/month for slow web access = sucks. if it's true that the data plan is required...well that will suck.
