Hand #71: Defending Champion Nenad Medic Eliminated in 3rd Place ($486,367)
Hand #71 - Mike Vela has the button in seat 2, he raises to 450,000, Medic thinks for a moment before he moves all in for 2,930,000, and Vela immediately calls with AJ. Medic shows A7, and he's dominated and facing elimination here. Could this be the end of Nenad Medic's title defense? The flop comes K98, and Vela retains the lead with his jack kicker. The turn card is the J, which gives Vela a pair but Medic picks up an extra out with a gutshot straight draw. He needs a ten on the river to stay alive. The river card is the J, and Mike Vela wins the pot with trip jacks. Defending WPT Foxwoods champion Nenad Medic is eliminated in third place, earning $486,367. There will be a short break before heads-up play begins between Nick Schulman and Mike Vela. Official chip counts will be posted soon. |
