Re: ALCS - Indians vs Red Sox
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Because i think even Tito has seen enough of Coco. [/ QUOTE ] Didn't Francona say that Crisp's defense makes him valuable to the team even if he never got a hit? I don't think Coco is sitting one time. [/ QUOTE ] his defensive is valuable, but he's been such an incredible disaster at the plate that at this point Ellsbury offense & defense > Crisp offense and defense Nate Silver said something interesting in his chat today: ssimon (Pelham, NY): Nate, BP often makes a distinction between stat-based decisionmaking and "leader of men" people-managing. In that regard, would you have "shaken up" the Red Sox lineup last night, even if it meant your statistically best player(s) would sit? Nate Silver: I don't think there's any inherent contradiction between the two modes of thought, unless you have a very static idea of "stat-based decision making". If Coco Crisp shows up to the ballpark 45 minutes late and completely hungover -- well then, you had probably ought to start Jacoby Ellsbury. Statheads overestimate the extend to which player performance ("true talent levels") are constant from day to day. I think it's clear at this point that Coco is just lost |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] lol @ McCarver: "there's no way Ellsbury doesn't play Saturday" these guys are amazing! [/ QUOTE ] Are you mocking him because it's so obvious that Ellsbury plays Saturday or are you saying he won't play? Because i think even Tito has seen enough of Coco. [/ QUOTE ] I'm mocking him b/c it's so obvious Ellsbury doesn't play Saturday. Tito doesn't panic and he doesn't bench guys in playoff series who are struggling. He's a players manager and he "dances with who brung him", if you will. Of course, benching Coco is not the same as benching Damon or Bellhorn in '04, but the point remains. |

Re: ALCS - Indians vs Red Sox
Way to go JD Drew. Score a meaningless run. If the game was 1-1 you would have tripped over your feet because you are the worst baseball player ever.
