if they are penalized by the league then that is one thing, but until then to me it sounds like grasping for straws

If Pitt is that much better than Cle on the road, think of how much they'd be favored over them at home.

Exactly... if they were playing on a neutral field, the spread would be about 10 points. This is the true difference in the team stengths.

Now if I pick a team at home that is favored by say, 5 points, it means that they are only 2 points better when comparing objectively.

So, when it comes down to making the pick, to me it is far better to pick the clearly overskilled team, even if on the road in certain circumstances.

Home field advantage is indeed important and is why the odds makers factor it in, but it is not the end-all. Pitt is clearly far more skilled than Cleveland, and IMO home-field advantage for the Brown's was in no way going to help compensate for it. The further apart the skills/talents of 2 teams are, the less affect home-field advantage actually has.

I don't know how this is cheating exactly. If the others are too stupid to prevent it, their fault.
Lip readers, cameras, frequency spying are all fair game imo. and it's no surprise that the Pats are good at it, they recruit at MIT :P
The line is thin as usual, are computer simulations and statistical analysis or game theory when analyzing the most likely plays by opponents etc. illegal as well?

I disagree that frequency spying can be fair game? If I can listen to every play that you call, then this is cheating.

There is a reason that teams don't go up to the line and say.. "OK, we're gonna run the ball to our left.. ready guys?" or "OK, let's run the double reverse on 3.. ready?"

Just gotta have the clever kids on your team, too.
I mean it's pretty obvious that if I find out some other team does this I can just reserve a frequency that I let them spy and give wrong info on it.
p.s.: Keeping communication secure != rocket science

it's like stealing signs in baseball

if you are on 2nd and want to try to steal the catchers signs, that is one thing, but if you have people in the outfield with a camera watching them and relaying them to the hitter (a la bobby thompson) that is pretty disgusting

How all my other survivors doing??? I'm glad I got my Niners out of the way... the rest of this season will be gravy.

I'm probably taking the Raiders next week... or the Browns. I live dangerously!
