although i think the guys are a favorite with equal skill level, your experience playing d3 girls is really irrelevant. if you could get the girls u18 national team and played a 90 min game i think it would be very tough finding 7 guys short of national pool or top level state players in strong soccer states.

[/ QUOTE ]

this is kinda true. the boys would def need to be very talented.

but i think you are underestimating the amount of "top level state players" that exist. i played club ball in northern ohio in my teens. my team beat the state champs from, ohio south, kentucky, michigan, minnesota, and indiana (both beasleys played on this team.) we never won the ohio north bc we lost to a very tough squad in our area (internationals if anyone knows; they were fckn pricks btw)

regardless, i have a lot of experience with upper and midlevel high school soccer talent. the average players in this fairly large player pool would be a favorite imo. further, there were plenty of very talented individuals that played on lesser teams that couldnt compete with us. basically, at this level, most players are very close in skill with a few that are super exceptional.

and this was just ohio region. the average players in texas, cali, virginia are even better.

Prop bets that I would love to make happen:

1. Facial hair growing.

2. Any type of bet on the original NES Contra, either for time or for least men used. I'm also open to bets that I can beat the entire game without using the code or any continues, and if the money is right I'd bet that I can beat the entire game on one life.

3. Prop bet that I can qualify to play (either through rating points or winning a seat in a tournament) in a 2008 Magic Pro Tour event (I don't actually have to attend the Pro Tour, just be invited to play in it).

I think some of the spirit of this thread has gotten just a little off course.

Prop bets are best when made between friends. Ideally, there is some suffering involved, like "i bet you can't go without shaving for a year", or "i'll give you 50 bucks to eat 5 haberneros and not puke". It seems to me, prop bets are the most enjoyable and fulfilling when made on a whim, not when coldly calculated for a profit.

Not that arranging these bets is bad, it'd be baller to see it happen. And not that trying to get an edge is bad either. But let's remember the true spirit of the prop bet: Spur-of-the-moment challenge of wits or balls from degenerates with gambooooooooooool. And keep it that way.

This is such a good bet, and I'm tempted to offer and try this one myself as I think I would laugh at myself a lot for an entire month. If I won would I be paid in pennies?

Bonus points for taking out a first date during the month spending only dimes without telling her what's going on?

I'm with DO on the spirit aspect of the prop bet.

It doesn't seem like a prop bet to ask someone how much money they would require to do something. That's just asking someone to name a price.

A prop bet seems like it would need to involve an outcome of an event that isn't pretty much certain, like a foot race, keeping down a bottle of A1, or X pushups within a day.

"I will pay you X to do Y" seems a lot different than "I will pay you X if you can do Y, and if you can't, you pay me Z".

For the record:
No talking for 2 years: 4 mil
Seattle -> Miami: 300k

These numbers don't mean much, because based on individual situations, people will have very different numbers. It has nothing to do with the skill of the event, just the value that the participant places on the cost of the action. IE someone without a job will do the Miami Trail walk for a lot less than an investment banker. Opportunity cost ftw.

--

I'm open to endurance motorcycling props. X miles in Y time, X miles without getting off the bike, etc.

I'd also be interested in odds for taking a few small and slow moving animals and racing them. Say, take a big piece of poster board, draw a big circle, then place the animals in the center of the circle, and the first one to get out wins.

Who wants to set the odds on:
A regular garden worm
A slug
A snail

The idea for this comes from turtle races, using the same method but with baby turtles. I think using the different species puts some actual skill into things. I'm pretty sure the worm has a good edge and the snail is a mid size dog there.

i will look at a painted wall for 48 hours without sleep, food or liquid.

i don't have a clue about what odds this would be. just poker is going badly and i need another source of money. although if i lost it would suck ass.

note this is not a concrete offer just something i would consider doing if the money was right. also obv i have never done any training for this, bar staring at pornos for an hour or two and playing online for about 8 hours max in one session, nor would i do any training.

Another idea:

Model building contest - 2 people have 24 hours to assemble a model car, battleship, whatever (as long as its the same kit) and then there is a blind judging to see whose is the best. The judging could easily be done online...

geormie,

That is a sweet idea. In fact, perhaps we should just do that as a contest. Declare a day, and on that day I'll pick some model kit, people have 24h to submit their finished product.

Everyone can toss some money into a pool, winner takes all.
